Parental Involvement

We believe that parents and staff working together as a team provide the best experiences for your child’s ongoing development. There are a number of ways for you, as parents, to get involved in the centre:

Child Development Meetings

Child development meetings with parents of preschool children are scheduled on an annual basis. The meetings allow staff and parents time to review the child’s progress, discuss any concerns, and set realistic development goals.

Open Door Policy

Parents are welcome to visit the centre at any time of day, join in room activities or field trips, or attend special events.

Information Sharing

We encourage daily contact with the room teachers so that any information regarding your child’s day can be shared.

Family Services

The centre provides family support services such as regular family socials (e.g., muffin mornings, afternoon teas, and evening barbecues). We also coordinate parent support activities like Story Hour, with a focus on encouraging parents to read with their children, and presentations on vision screening, fever management, dental hygiene, speech development, and car seat safety through the Bonnie Doon Public Health Centre. We continue to run the Alberta Health Services “Do Bugs Need Drugs?” educational program about the proper use of antibiotics and infection reduction. A book- and toy-lending library, extra clothes for those in need and referrals to food hamper services are also available.
